Happy New Year from the Tax-Exempt and Charitable Planning Team!   For many of us, with the New Year often comes resolutions (I know for me, I renew my annual resolution to get in shape).   The IRS is not immune to this process and recently released its 2011 “resolutions” in the form of its annual Priority Guidance Plan.  The 2011 Plan includes the following priorities:

  • Final regulations to implement Form 990 revisions and modify the public support test.
  • Guidance updating grantor and contributor reliance criteria under Code Sections 170 and 509.
  • Guidance on additional requirements for charitable hospitals as added by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
  • Final regulations on new requirements for supporting organizations, as added by the Pension Protection Act of 2006.
  • Additional information regarding these priorities, and others impacting exempt organizations, can be found by clicking here.

We look forward to 2011 and we will continue our efforts to update our readers regarding developments impacting exempt organizations.  We also look forward to your input and comments!

    Happy Holidays from our Team!
